2020-2021 Registration Forms

Registration Information

It is time to enroll your child/children in the 2020 – 2021 Faith Formation Program at Our Lady of Lourdes. We offer Faith Formation for children in grades 1 through 9. Please read through the descriptions of each program explained below. There have been a few changes to next year's programs.

Our Lady of Lourdes offers two different Programs for your child’s 1st through 6th grade Faith Formation: Traditional Classroom Model and Family Faith Formation.

Carefully read the requirements for each program before making a decision about which one would be best for your family. We will not allow families to switch to Family Faith once the year has started.

In the Traditional Classroom Model, children in Grades 1 – 6 gather on a weekly basis in a regular classroom setting.  Classes meet, once per week, on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon from 4-5:15PM.  Children and Catechists (teachers) gather in Pollard Hall at 4:00PM for a mini lesson and opening prayer, and then go to their classrooms.

In the Family Faith Formation Program, children in Grades 1 – 6 and their parents must attend 4 Sunday retreats from 12:30 until 3PM. Following the 11:30AM Mass, families will congregate in the Church near the altar for an opening prayer service, followed by lessons and activities. Home lessons are assigned for each child on a weekly basis and should be completed as a family. Online assessments for each lesson will be emailed on Sunday of each week and are due the following Saturday.

**Families who choose this program must be committed to attending all sessions and parents and children must participate in all activities. In addition, home lessons must be completed on time. ****Please note that the nature of this program will require us to limit the number of families allowed to participate to 40. Registration will be on a first come/first served basis. If you want to participate in Family Faith Formation, please register ASAP.

The preparation for Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Eucharist  begins in Grade 1 and is a two year process that ends with the Sacraments taking place in Grade 2. In addition to regular Faith Formation classes in Grade 2, there are mandatory family retreats along with other requirements scheduled before each Sacrament.

Confirmation preparation begins in Grade 7.  7th and 8th graders will meet weekly for a Fall Session and a Winter Session along with scheduled dates for confession and an 8th grade Confirmation interview. 7th and 8th graders are also expected participate in Our Lady of Lourdes parish by attending Mass and completing Community Service Hours here at the parish. Classes for Grades 7 and 8 will be offered on Tuesday evenings from 7-8:15PM and Sunday mornings from 10:30-11:45AM.

Grade 9 Confirmation students attend monthly Sunday sessions beginning at the 11:30am Mass and ending at approximately 2:00pm.  They too are required to complete Community Service Hours.  There is also a Confirmation Retreat for 9th graders as well as a Confirmation rehearsal.

The success of each of these Programs depends on volunteers.  We encourage all parishioners to use their gifts in service of the Church’s educational mission.  If you would like more information about becoming a volunteer in our Faith Formation Programs, please call the Faith Formation Office at 908-233-1777 or email at reled@ollmountainside.org

Please note that children will be placed in classes on a first come first served basis and only after all outstanding payments, fees and forms are received. Requests for tuition deferment due to financial hardship must be made in writing and submitted to the Faith Formation Office. All matters will be kept confidential.
